Tampico Press Books is an independent press that supports big ideas and bold art.
Offering select editorial and creative services for writers who independently publish their works, we extend the creative voice of artists who live beyond the status quo.
Origin Story
The city of Tampico, situated on Mexico's gulf coast, is a place of white sand beaches and French inspired architecture. A boom town in the early 20th century when oil was discovered within its humid jungles, Tampico today has an air of tattered elegance. Its downtown district, marked by wrought iron balconies that invite comparisons to New Orleans, harkens a bygone era. Tampico Press Book is named for this place where our ancestors once lived simple lives centered on hard work and family. A century ago they swam within warm gulf waters beneath canopies of palms. Today the Gomez Boo family is gone, but their spirit lives in the stories and art we put forth through this venture.
